NG Kütahya Seramik, as one of the owners of 4.0 technology in ceramic industry in Turkey which makes production under one roof, gives its sign to one of the biggest factories.
NG Kütahya Seramik has a fixed place in the sector with its production activities for more than 30 years, did not slow down its investments despite the pandemic. At the beginning of this year, the company started feasibility studies to increase the number of factories in Kütahya to 8, and the investment has matured rapidly. The new factory investment, worth approximately 2 billion TL, which will be entirely composed of equity capital, will be equipped with Industry 4.0 technology from start to finish. The factory also makes production under one roof to carry the distinction of being the largest ceramics factory in Turkey. An agreement was signed to purchase state-of-the-art machinery from Italy for the factory, which will produce its own electricity as an environmentally friendly green facility.
The foundation will be laid down next month and the factory will be realized in 3 stages and the first stage will be commissioned on October 29, 2021, and completed in 2023. With the new investment, additional employment for a total of thousand people will be created. When the first phase of the factory is commissioned, it will create employment for 300 people. When the investment is completed, the number of employment will increase to thousand. It will make a name for itself with its new factory technology, which will produce in a closed area of 110 thousand square meters with a daily capacity of 22 thousand square meters. For the first time in Turkey, it will use DDG (Digital Decoration & Glazing) technology in ceramics production.
ERKAN GÜRAL, CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF NG KÜTAHYA SERAMİK:
“Our annual production will approach 9 million square meters”
The details of NG Kütahya Seramik’s new factory investment were shared with the public at the press conference held on Wednesday, December 9th, hosted by Erkan Güral, Chairman of the Board of NG Kütahya Seramik. Erkan Güral, who gave information to the press members about the developments regarding NG Kütahya Seramik’s production and export activities, also made a statement regarding the effects of the pandemic on the sector, and also about the 2021 targets.
Güral underlined that, as NG Kütahya Seramik, despite the fact that they produced with 100 percent capacity during the pandemic period, they had to make a new factory investment decision according to the domestic and foreign-oriented demands. He continued his words as follows: “During the pandemic period, we encountered serious demands both from within the country and from abroad, especially from Europe and America. With our investment in the new factory, we aim to increase our market share in the world market besides Turkey and meet these demands. In our factory, where we will support our biggest dimensional ceramic production of the world, we will produce floor tiles entirely. We will increase our capacity by approximately 70 percent with our new investment. So, our annual production will approach 9 million square meters.”
24 percent increase in exports in the last year
Giving information about the production and export-oriented activities of NG Kütahya Seramik, Güral said: “Especially for the last 5 years, we have focused on investing in brands and product groups. We are starting to harvest the seeds we spreaded in the last 10 years. Today, we supply 60 percent of our production domestically and 40 percent to the world markets. When we evaluate the last year, we have achieved a 24 percent increase in exports per square meter. In 2019, we exported to 79 countries. In the pandemic period, we managed to increase our exports while companies were having difficulty in even maintaining their current positions. We will close this year with a turnover of 1 billion TL. We will see the effects of the new factory on our turnover in 2021. We added 25 more stores to our 275 domestic stores. Also abroad, we have 50 stores. We continue our investments to increase the number of our stores.”
Will invest in a different area of the industry
Giving information about the goals of 2021 at the meeting, Güral added that, “In addition to our new factory investment, we will complete our new hotel in March, which is under construction in Antalya, and put it into service in April. We are working on a different area of our industry. We will implement this work after maturing in 2021 and completing our facility investment.
Necessary to Invest in Made in Turkey brand
Referring to the fact that the Turkish ceramics industry has become competing with countries that rank first in ceramic production in the world, Güral said, “We compete with Italy and Spain. The Turkish ceramics industry has surpassed most of the manufacturers here with the investments it has made in recent years. Our biggest deficiency is that we could not have brought the brand value of Made in Turkey to where it should be. But Turkey makes production in the size of Italy and Spain. Our industry needs to invest in Made in Turkey brand.”
