SALAT DRAWS ATTENTION WITH ITS NEW PRODUCTS AND INVESTMENTS

Bunge which is one of the world's largest food companies, bought Salat operating in the edible vegetable oil industry. Salat which is drawing attention with its new products and investments, aims to be the most preferred brand in its geographical area in 2016.

Salat, as the first remembered brand of sunflower oil since 1960s, was sold in 2013 to Bunge  which is the global leader of food sector. Bunge payed about 4 million TL for taking over and it steps further with safety in change and growing strategy of Salat. As the Director of Consumer Sales and Marketing, Mr. Erman Erol stated that they aim to be more visible for consumers and effectiver with their new products both in Turkey and at close markets. Rather than as a supplier in Turkey, Mr. Erol underlined that they would invest in Turkey. Because they believed in potential of Turkey and they were ready to lead this industrial sector.

Mr. Erol explained that Salat started new production of Erman+Erol_sunflowers, mais and canola oil varieties in its modern vegetable oil production plants. “Our primary export target is the neighboring hinterland countries and Middle Eastern” he said. In his speech, he continued as follows: “Salat had a market share of 1 percent in 2014 but this share has reached to 5 percent at the moment. And our aim is to rise this rate to 7 percent until the end of this year. Turkey could have only 2.75 million tons share from the amount of 550 million tons oilseeds production of the world in 2014. About 1.25 million tons of this amount was sunflowers seeds. The rest need was covered with imports from Black Sea countries. The consumption of sunflowers oil has increased at home and out-of-home base in 2015. But it might be less than the amount of in 2014 in supply. This means an increase on import. With supporting the production of oilseeds, we can rise the domestic production. By this means, we can help to activate dormant seed processing capacity as well as reduce the import amount of 4 billion dollars.”

WE CONSUME DAILY 2 SPOONS OIL PER PERSON

Erman Erol said that about 17-17.2 liters oil is consumed per person in Turkey on yearly basis and 11.4 liters of this amount includes sunflowers oil. Pointing out that daily oil consumption is 2 spoons per person, Erol continued as follows: “Sunflowers oil has the richest content about vitamins when looking at the world codex and it is recommended in diet lists. Because it has digestive effect and speeds up human metabolism.”
