The second phase of Aksa Göynük Energy Thermal Power Plant began commercial operation with using domestic coal.
390 million dollars investment has been made in Aksa Göynük Energy Thermal Power Plant which is one of the 2 power plants in Turkey that uses domestic coal and managed by private sector. This plant will produce 2 billion kWh electricity with its total power of 270 MW annually. With this sum, the energy need of 150 000 household would be provided.
Aksa Energy as a private company open to public, has commissioned the second phase of the Aksa Göynük Energy Thermal Power Plant using domestic coal to produce energy. Established in 2012, the adoption of the second phase of this plant with 135 MW power made by Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.
Aksa Energy has made the necessary investments to eliminate possible affects of the brown coal on environment and human health with its environmentally sensitive approach. The company has established the first "flue gas treatment system” of Turkey in Aksa Göynük Energy Thermal Power Plant. Thanks to this system, Aksa Göynük Energy Thermal Power Plant reached the low emissions rate already that required by European Union for 2018.
Aksa Göynük Energy Thermal Power Plant is one of the 2 power plants in Turkey which uses domestic coal and commissioned by the private sector. With its 270 MW power and 2 billion kWh production capacity annually, it meets the energy needs of 600 000 people. This plant will contribute to eliminate the deficit of our country as well as to reflect positively on the company’s profitability by reducing energy production costs.
